The Missions Committee is charged with the task of coordinating and supporting the
missions work of members of the congregation of Mendon Church. The
missions work of our church consists of both "hands on" activities that members
of the congregation do for those in need as well as sending money and supplies for those
in need. The committee is directly responsible for maintaining the missions budget
for the church and for reporting on how that budget was spent in the annual report of the
church. Committee members are also directly responsible for keeping the congregation
informed about the status of projects and causes that the church supports. This
particularly important with our foreign missionaries as this is often the only source of
information about their activities. Committee members may also be involved in
fundraising for missions projects and organize local "hands on" efforts.
We currently support three foreign missionaries and do much "hands on" work for
Benincasa (a hospice) and the Open Door Mission.
The Mendon Church supports these missionaries through financial
contributions, communication, and prayer. Past fund raisers were the annual
spaghetti dinner, and a pie sale at the spring carnival in Mendon. We may be a
"small country church", but by supporting these missionaries and their families,
we help them to share the Gospel and to do the Lord's work all around the world!

| Haiti:
Bruce Robinson, with the UFM (Unevangelized Fields Missions), has been a missionary in
Haiti for 15 years. He is a civil engineer by training, and has helped build bridges
and schools. He also has been involved in many pure-water projects, bringing
drinkable water via pipeline to villages in northwest Haiti. Our church has been
involved since the fall of 1997 with a special project: purchasing a second-hand bulldozer to assist the Haitian farmers with
whom Bruce works. This vehicle will enable the Haitians to raise crops more efficiently,
lessening the need for foreign aid. As of September
1999, we finalized shipping arrangements to get the bulldozer to Haiti.

| Nigeria: The Beacham family has
spent many years in Nigeria, teaching and doing missions work at an international school
called Hillcrest. A large part of their work involves sharing the Christian faith
with students to different religions in their "Bible Study Fellowship"
program. Teaching about Christianity in a predominantly Moslem country has presented
Beaj and Steve and their daughters with numerous challenges. |

Every so often we receive a letter from the missionaries. We hope to reprint
portions of their letters here. Please let us
know if this is something you would like to read.
