Making the Message Meaningful to Me
Forgiven and Forgotten:
Putting Memory Loss to Good Use!
Leviticus 8:14-17; 1 John 1:5-10; Hebrews 10:1-18
The REQUIREMENT for Forgiveness
"By one sacrifice He has made perfect forever..." Hebrews 10:14
The problem isn't the Bible; the problem is the person.
The promises of Christ are conditional on Christian discipleship.
The REALITY of Forgiveness
"The law is only a shadow of the good things...not the
realities." Hebrews 10:1
The temple sacrificial system was shadow without substance.
Reality began when Jesus was sacrificed for our sin forever.
The REMEDY of Forgiveness
"He sets aside the first to establish the second..." Hebrews
10:9b
The Law is abolished so that the Son may be established.
Whenever forgiveness is exercised, it costs somebody something.
Christians are never flippant about sin - we know what it cost Jesus.
The RELIABILITY of Forgiveness
"This priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins..."
Hebrews 10:12
The One with authority has declared you forgiven; depend on it!
You deny Christ's word and work when you doubt your forgiveness.
The REACH of Forgiveness
"Because by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever..." Hebrew
10:14
Perfect means whole, complete, lacking nothing - forgiveness is complete.
All of our sins - past, present, and future - are forgiven.
The REMINDER of Forgiveness
"An annual reminder of sins (v. 3)" vs. "sins I will
remember no more (v.17).
Forgiveness, without forgetfulness, is phony!
Remember your forgiveness, not your sin.
